QUESTIONS

Creator Rewards FAQ

Do I get paid for uploading?

No. Uploading and approval do not create a payment. You earn only when selected content generates identifiable revenue that YouTube, TikTok or Instagram actually pays to TravelChannel.

What share do I receive?

You receive 40% of the qualifying platform revenue actually paid to TravelChannel and attributable to your selected content. TravelChannel retains 60% for editing, publishing, administration, promotion and operating the programme.

When will I be paid?

Your earnings accumulate in South African rand. Amounts below R500 carry forward. Once your unpaid balance reaches R500, TravelChannel arranges payment and sends you a revenue report.

What will the report show?

The report will identify the content, relevant platform, qualifying revenue received, your 40% share, amounts carried forward and the amount paid. Reporting depends on the information each platform makes available.

Do I keep my copyright?

Yes. You keep copyright and give TravelChannel permission to edit, publish and monetise selected content on the approved YouTube, TikTok and Instagram channels under these programme terms.

What content can I submit?

Original tourism-related photos and videos: food, accommodation, activities, scenery, events, fishing and picnic places, town discoveries and responsible wildlife moments.

TRAVELCHANNEL CREATOR REWARDS

Revenue-sharing terms

These terms apply when you tick Creator Rewards and TravelChannel selects your submitted content for monetised publication. They explain a platform-revenue share—not an upfront purchase or direct payment for uploading content.

1. Eligibility and original work

You must be at least 18, or participate through a parent or legal guardian. You confirm that you created the content, control the necessary rights and may legally submit it.

2. Permissions and responsibility

You are responsible for permission from identifiable people and for any music, artwork, trademarks, private property or protected-location permissions. Do not submit stolen, illegal, harmful or misleading material.

3. Selection and publication

TravelChannel may accept, decline, remove or request more information about a submission. Uploading, approval and publication do not guarantee views, monetisation, revenue or payment.

4. Copyright and programme licence

You retain copyright. For selected content, you grant TravelChannel a non-exclusive, worldwide permission to store, edit, caption, watermark, publish, promote and monetise it on the TravelChannel YouTube, TikTok and Instagram channels you approved.

5. Qualifying revenue

Qualifying revenue is money actually paid to TravelChannel by YouTube, TikTok or Instagram and identified—or reasonably allocated using available platform analytics—as revenue from your selected content. Views or estimated revenue that is never paid do not qualify.

6. Creator share

Your creator share is 40% of qualifying platform revenue. TravelChannel retains 60% for editing, publishing, promotion, administration, reporting and programme operations.

7. Adjustments

Platform reversals, invalid-traffic deductions, refunds, withholding taxes or later corrections connected to the content may adjust qualifying revenue. TravelChannel will not deduct unrelated production expenses from the creator’s 40% share.

8. Threshold and payout

Earnings are tracked in South African rand. Balances below R500 carry forward. When the unpaid balance reaches at least R500, TravelChannel will arrange payment using the agreed method. You are responsible for accurate payment details and your own tax obligations.

9. Creator report

With each payout, TravelChannel will provide a report showing the content, platform, qualifying revenue received, the 40% calculation, carried-forward amounts and the amount paid, based on available platform reporting.

10. Ending participation

You may ask TravelChannel to stop using content in the programme. We will act reasonably on prospective removal, subject to platform processing, existing posts, earned revenue and any authorised uses already completed. South African law applies.

Important legal note

This is TravelChannel’s own revenue-sharing programme draft. It should be reviewed by a South African attorney and an accountant before the first payout.
